Templar Poetry, based in the heart of Derbyshire, England is an Independent Press publishing contemporary poetry. Founded on the island of Bute, Scotland in 2005, it is composed of six founding practitioners drawn from literature, art, the music industry, design and the broadcast and print media. Their mutual aim is to publish excellent contemporary poetry which reaches a wide audience and readership. Templar Poetry is committed to innovative and experimental modes of publishing and transmitting poetry in oral as well as textual formats, and has a specific interest in developing cross genre partnerships. The organisation administers an International Pamphlet & Collection Prize which offers poets the opportunity to submit short selections of their work for consideration. Four pamphlets are published from these submissions annually at the Derwent Poetry Festival in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, along with other new poetry collections and new works published by Templar Poetry. Now in its fourth year, Templar Poetry continues to grow and has published over thirty poetry pamphlets, collections, anthologies, a short monograph and a poetic biography.
